Parent Project Sr.

Parent Project Sr.

It’s designed for strong-willed children ages 11 to seniors in high school. The class is 16 weeks long, facilitators will run the first 10 classes then it will be parent-led for the last 6 and they will follow the UCLA parent support group model. The goal of the group is to develop a bond between parents for ongoing and continued support outside of JCMHC. This class helps parents to learn concrete, practical advice and will be asked to utilize it in their weekly homework assignments.

Out of control/strong willed behavior could be identified as:

  • Refusal to help around the house or compliance
  • When children scream and cursing at caregivers
  • Unsafe social media usage
  • Children who run away or threaten to run away
  • When children become physical with caregivers
  • Exploring or using drugs/alcohol
  • Children refusing to go to school or complete work
  • Child is involved in gang-like activities
