| Food Safety in a Childcare Setting | Providing safe food in child care is a key role for both center and home-based child care providers. This course will describe guidelines for proper food safety practices and how you can help prevent food-borne illness. Practices to keep children safe from food-related injuries, such as choking or food allergy reactions, will also be discussed. This class is not approved for CACFP credit. Course objectives: • Understand the types and causes of food-borne illness. • Discuss the importance of food safety. • Identify safe food handling procedures. • Describe proper sanitation/disinfection procedures for surfaces/food contact surfaces. • Explain basic principles of food storage and preparation.
