Kelly G. Loeb, an experienced, certified Medicare benefits counselor will provide unbiased information as part of the Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas (SHICK) program of the Johnson County Area Agency on Aging. Other experienced and certified counselors will be on hand to answer questions and assist people.

The Medicare Basics workshop is for people who need information to successfully enroll in Medicare and avoid penalties, for family caregivers who want to understand the basics and anyone who is curious about how Medicare works.

The session covers how to enroll in Medicare, how to delay enrolling in Medicare and avoid future penalties, what Medicare covers, what Medicare costs, what the gaps in Medicare are and how to cover those gaps, things to know about Medicare prescription coverage, how to get help to pay for Medicare costs and how to protect yourself from Medicare fraud
