Providing safe food in child care is a key role for both center and home-based child care providers. This course will describe guidelines for proper food safety practices and how you can help prevent food-borne illness. Practices to keep children safe from food-related injuries, such as choking or food allergy reactions, will also be discussed. This class is not approved for CACFP credit. Course objectives: • Understand the types and causes of food-borne illness. • Discuss the importance of food safety. • Identify safe food handling procedures. • Describe proper sanitation/disinfection procedures for surfaces/food contact surfaces. • Explain basic principles of food storage and preparation. Approved by KDHE for 2 clock hours.

Class Credits: 2 Clock Hours

Please Note: This is a private class open only to participants of the Child Care Program. If you wish to enroll in this class, you must first login to the website and choose from the class options available. If you don't already have a user account, you will be asked to register as part of the class registration process. 

No refunds will be given for this class. Transfers or credits for an upcoming class will be given if email recieved greater that 24 hours before the class. Email Stacey Stroh.

Payment must be made at the time of registration. If you reserve a spot in the class and do not make a payment the system will not let you return for payment.
