Over twelve million children in the United States spend 35 hours or more a week in child care. Exposure to large groups of children for this significant amount of time increases the risk of infectious diseases. This class describes the common childhood illnesses including the signs and symptoms, and preventive measures for caregivers. The class will cover methods of transmission and the pathogens or agents such as bacteria or viruses that cause these diseases. Vaccine preventable diseases will also be discussed.

Class Credits: 2 Clock Hours
